Language other than English Examinations

The Edmonton Public Schools Continuing Education offers challenge exams in Chinese 35 and Japanese 35. Completion of one of these challenge exams will result in a grade being placed on an Alberta Education High School transcript and if that grade is 50% or better it will be counted along with the four other required matriculation subjects (or their equivalent) as specified for the particular Arts Faculty degree program to which you have applied. Contact Continuing Education Services at 10820 - 101 Street, Edmonton, Alberta T5H 3Z9 or phone (780) 426-3280 to make arrangements for an examination. Examinations can be taken during the day, evening or Saturday morning.

It should be noted that courses in this Department are primarily designed for students who do NOT speak and who are NOT literate in the language in question. This generally includes dialect speakers as well. Those courses which are open to all students are appropriately marked in the "Details of Courses" section (§§211.34, 211.118 and 211.119) of the University Calendar. It should also be noted that there are special routes for students with background in one of the languages. These students should consult with the Department before making course selections.
